Once collected, the whey goes through many different processes and eventually turns into the protein powder. Since whey protein comes from milk, it contains lactose, which is a milk sugar molecule and it is easily digested.
Whey protein is perfect if all you want is protein. If you’re looking for something extra from your protein powder, though, it may be better to look somewhere else.

Since whey protein is made from milk, it’s lacking in a variety of nutrients. You, of course, get your calcium, your B-vitamins, and other vitamins and minerals, but its nutrient density isn’t as high as plant-based protein.
